Tunis x Qape Noir
Two-Year-Old
Crest Racing is delighted to be offering Mecene (stable name Murray) for syndication in 10% shares.
He’s a 2YO gelding currently in training with the Grade One winning trainer, Jane Williams, in her idyllic yard set in the rolling hills of North Devon on the edge of Exmoor.
Jane, ably assisted by her son, Chester, who has now retired from race-riding, has an enviable record with her French-bred geldings.
He’s by the up-and-coming hurdle-winning stallion Tunis, whose oldest crop are 4YOs and include the listed winners in France, Kiss Langy and Ella Duchic. He’s already had numerous other winners, particularly of French 4YO chases.
His dam won and has produced the Cheltenham Festival winner, Faivoir as well as Clic Work (135) and Grand Voyage (123).
Five of Tunis’ progeny were sold in Ireland in 2024 in the 3YO stores sales at an average price of €127,000 with purchasers including Willie Mullins and Paul Nicholls. Recently an Irish point to point winner by Tunis was sold for £330,000 at Cheltenham.
Having been purchased at Arqana in July 2024, the plan for him is to run in junior hurdles in Autumn 2025 but he is seen very much as a steeplechaser and it’s expected that he’ll graduate to fences sooner rather than later.
The syndication starts on 1 March 2025 and terminates on 31 May 2027, but we shall review in May 2026.
The all-in fee to include buy in and training until 1 March 2025 is £3920 (including mortality insurance). This can be paid in two instalments of £1960 now and a further £1960 by 31 January 2025. Training costs are £240 per month from 1 March 2025.
Members will receive 10% of the prize money (less entry fees, jockey fees and trainer’s racing costs) and 10% of his sale proceeds at termination. Stable visits will be arranged in the Spring and Autumn with other visits by arrangement.
Castle De Berlais x Eau Tenebreuse
Five-Year-Old
Crest Racing is delighted to be offering Another Folly (stable name Herbert) for syndication in 5% shares.
He’s a 5YO gelding currently in training with the Grade One winning trainer, Jane Williams, in her idyllic yard set in the rolling hills of North Devon on the edge of Exmoor.
Jane, ably assisted by her son, Chester, who has now retired from race-riding, has an enviable record with her French-bred geldings.
He’s by the listed chase winning stallion Castle du Berlais, whose crop of 4YOs include the Grade 2 winner at Auteil, Goliath de Rheu and is currently the leader in France with his 3YO crop including a listed winner at Auteil. His dam has had two other runners, both of whom have won. One of them, Sony Bill, was second in a listed hurdle at Auteil in June 2024 and was sold the next month to Willie Mullins for €200,000.
Another Folly came second in each of his two runs in points in the Spring of 2023. In the 2023/24 season, he had four runs over hurdles, the final one in a handicap for which he was given a mark of 107. He then ran in a Cross-Country race in France in June 2024. He was going well and jumping exceptionally before the race was abandoned 6 furlongs out and voided because of a fallen horse. He would almost certainly have been involved in the finish.
He we shall review in May 2025. is going novice/handicap chasing this season. He’s got plenty of scope for improvement and is expected to be a different horse over fences compared with hurdles. He has run twice already for this syndicate coming third and second and is therefore due for a win on his next appearance in December! It’s highly likely that he’ll return to France for races there in Spring 2025.
The syndication started 1 October 2024 and terminates on 31 May 2026, but
An all-in fee to include buy in and training until 31 May 2025 is £2260 with monthly costs of £110, thereafter. This can be paid in two instalments of £1130 now and a further £1130 by 31 December.
Members will receive 5% of the prize money (less entry fees, jockey fees and trainer’s racing costs) and 5% of his sale proceeds at termination. Stable visits will be arranged in September and March with other visits by arrangement.
